The Spring Creek Chili Cook-Off is a community favorite, bringing neighbors together in our gymnasium for an afternoon of friendly competition and good food. Chili is served (and sampled!) from roughly 11 a.m. to 2–3 p.m., with a small admission — historically around $5-$7 — that gets guests unlimited samples and a vote for their favorite.
Home cooks bring their best chili to the gym before judging begins, and prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. It's a low-key, high-flavor way to spend a winter afternoon with the whole community.
The Chili Cook-Off has also doubled as a wellness fair in past years, partnering with The Blood Connection for a bi-monthly blood drive, Madison County Public Libraries, and the Madison County Health Program for community health resources, COVID-19 test kits, Narcan kits, and more — all in one stop.
