The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is a federal-state partnership established in 1965 to invest in economic and community development across 423 counties in the Appalachian Region, including Madison County, North Carolina. ARC funding priorities include building Appalachian businesses, strengthening the region's workforce, investing in critical infrastructure such as broadband, and building the capacity of local leaders and organizations — priorities that align closely with the work happening every day at Spring Creek Community Center.

SCCC's grants committee works to identify and pursue funding opportunities that support our mission of improving the socio-economic status of our remote Appalachian township. That work is reflected in projects like SCORED — the Spring Creek Office for Rural Economic Development — a renovation of our historic school building that will include rentable offices, a business center, a classroom/boardroom, and a Value Added Kitchen to support local food entrepreneurs. Projects like this are exactly the kind of rural economic capacity-building that ARC-aligned funding is designed to support.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 56-2135389), Spring Creek Community Center is funded through a combination of donations, fundraising events, space rentals, and grants — including partnerships with funders such as the NC Rural Center, Golden Leaf Foundation, Dogwood Health Trust, and Cannon Foundation, alongside our ongoing pursuit of regional economic development funding.
